The 1978 Pittsburgh Steelers made an emphatic statement to the entire NFL in becoming the first franchise to win three Super Bowls. After claiming back to back titles in Super Bowls IX and X, the Steelers were bounced from the playoffs early the following two seasons, leaving a bad taste in the mouths of a generational contingent of stars who believed that their legacy still had more to it to be written.
